Donkiesbaai is owned by Jean Engelbrecht and family. They have vacationed in Donkiesbaai on the South African west coast for four generations. This is where their inspiration lies for their wines. The grapes are unirrigated bush vines grown in deep sandy soil in the Piekenierskloof area. Their wines are made specifically for pairing with the west coast cuisine in mind – crayfish, harder mullet and mussels. Their wines are complex yet easily approachable.
