Germana (Cachaça – national drink of Brazil) was founded by Sergio Caetano in 1912. Today it’s still produced and aged at the original farm. It’s made from hand cut and pressed sugarcane juice that’s fermented naturally and distilled in copper pot stills which are directly heated by fire, then aged for two years before being bottled. The wood-like coating of the bottle is dried banana leaves they collect after harvesting the bananas for the process.
