Sadie Treinspoor 2023 750ml
R549.99
This vineyard, located next to the old railway line (Treinspoor), was named accordingly. The thin, fragile skin of Tinta Barocca is susceptible to sunburn, but the old bush vines provide an excellent framework to shield the bunches from the intense Swartland sun. Tinta Barocca combines the texture of Nebbiolo with the aromatic profile of Syrah, producing wines of remarkable character and longevity. The grapes are fermented with 50% whole clusters and 50% destemmed, with the fermentation process lasting about 25 to 30 days before being pressed in an old basket press. Only gentle bucket overs are done during fermentation to avoid over-extracting tannins from the Tinta Barocca grapes, which are naturally high in tannins.
