Savage Red 2022 750ml

Grapes for this Savage Red are sourced from the Langverwagt farm in Kuils River, a region renowned for its maritime climate and decomposed granite soils. The three parcels of vines, trellised but farmed as a sprawl canopy, are planted on poor soils, resulting in low vigor and limited grape yields, ideal conditions for producing classic Syrah.

The 2022 vintage, a warmer year, produced a Savage Red with a touch more generosity. Notes of plums, lavender, cola, and violets are complemented by the signature Langverwagt white pepper. The palate remains structured and focused, thanks to the granitic soil tannin. This wine is expected to age gracefully over the next decade.
