Dessert Wine
Dessert wine is a sweet wine that is enjoyed after a meal. It’s made via several methods such as late harvesting the grapes, adding extra sugar or via fortification with a distilled spirit like brandy. Usually a pale gold, amber or deep red colour it’s enjoyed for its pure sweetness with notes of honey; dried fruits; caramel or floral and nutty undertones. Types of dessert wines are Late Harvest, Riesling, Sauternes and Muscat. They are rich, concentrated and meant to be sipped in smaller quantities.
