Shiraz / Syrah are both produced by the Syrah grape but variances between the wines is climate driven – Syrah grows in cooler climates and Shiraz in warmer climates. This climatic difference influences the flavour and aromatic experience of the wines. Syrah tends to be more of a dry, full-bodied wine with a range of flavours like smokey bacon; dark fruits and black pepper complimented by herbal and floral aromas. It pairs well with meaty stews; duck and mushrooms.
Shiraz is bolder and more full-bodied with fruit-forward flavours of blueberries; blackberries and dark cherries with hints of pepper and jammy aromas. Enjoy Shiraz with burgers; roasted meats and a braai (barbecue).
