Merlot

Merlot is an approachable and versatile wine, a bit of a chameleon with flavour and pairing. Grown in warmer climates it exhibits the flavours of fruit cake or vanilla, and plum or chocolate in cooler climates. Younger Merlots tend to be fruitier easy-going wines, while oak aged are more sophisticated and elegant. Merlot's can pair with different types of meals from pizzas to braai's (barbeques) to rich braised meats and rustic ratatouille.
