Montelobos is a mezcal produced in Oaxaca, Mexico. It was first launched in 2012 by Ivan Saldana, a renowned mezcalero and biochemist. It’s made using traditional methods that have been passed down through generations. One of its distinctive features is their use of the espadin agave, a variety known for its rich and complex flavour profile. The agaves used are harvested by hand and roasted in underground pits, imparting a smoky flavour. After roasting, the agave are crushed and fermented before being distilled in small-batch copper stills. Its characterised by its balance of herbal and fruity notes with a smooth and velvety texture.
